A must-have book for graphic designers!! Oct 19, Omar J rated it really liked it. Practically, you can see how Panasonic website follows grids but is not “sexy” visually. He starts off simple and then gets more and more complicated as the book progresses.
With consice and pragmatic writing style, Joseph Brockmann teaches a disciplined and systematic application of grids. Brokcmann think this book is written well as far as reference books go.

Read it in college and again in Grid Systems in Graphic Design is fantastic and important reading material that can be enjoyed ssystems a reading piece or as somewhat of a reference piece.

We moved on from Letraset and photo-typesetting after this book has published. After reading, I feel grif I understand enough to start creating my own grid system designs. I thought was it centre-aligned or top-aligned.
I have a handful of grid-related books, and this one stands out and grrid most thorough and theoretical. Really well brokmann and the words were chosed really carefull, which showed how much passion was poured into it. It definitely lays a solid foundation of the grid system, but it’s too extreme, to the point that it’s over doing it. Overly expensive and poor reading experience due to the double translation. Later graphic designers and especially special graphic novelists have tried their hand at such design, e.

Better read Gombrich ‘s History of Art as a complememt. Aug 15, Adam rated it really liked it Shelves: I found this book really useful. That said, I found it outdated and less than captivating. With examples on how to work correctly at a conceptual level and exact instructions for using all of the systems 8 to 32 wystemsthis guidebook provides a crystal-clear framework for problem-solving. Bad news is that grids are only the part and small-one of the equation.
