True to a large majority of YA books, this one doesn’t take a harsh approach to life or the characters. I enjoyed this sequel much more than the first book in the series!

The premise is very interesting and I was really drawn into the world the author created. Needless to say, this book has always been one of my “go to” books for readers whom are not “series” minded.

This Flight of the Dragon Kyn book review was written by Dark. I picked this book up because it satisfied the requirements for a book challenge I am participating in needed a book with a main character who shared my name. As well as being something of a creature of whim, Kara also seems a rather more passive character than Kaeldra, doubly odd given Fletcher’s project of avoiding non traditional fairy tale roles for female characters, indeed on the one occasion Kara does attempt to strike out on her own she employs a ruse so obviously hackneyed it is almost laughable.

Apparently she had researched ancient Scandinavian culture, and those researches certainly paid off here with insights into details from costume to smell to even the construction and customs of Craggish steadings with their turf roofed timber buildings, rituals around bathing and different sorts of open longships.



I found this book to be much od than the book it is a “prequel” to, Dragon’s Milkwhether because it was written later or because it is just a more interesting story, I’m not sure.

May 03, Mikaylah rated it liked it. The first thing I noticed about Flight is that Fletcher’s style and especially her pacing had definitely improved. I intend to read the first book soon. I don’t care for or sympathize with her in the drahon.

It was fate, I thought. This book is a prequel to a later series set subsequent to the events in this book and I will definitely give that series a try based on how much I liked this drqgon.

Despite overall an improvement in the standard of writing generally, I found Kara simply a rather irritating and somewhat childish character to be around, a fact which sadly does bode well for the book’s final volume simply on the basis that Kara will not be featuring in it.

I picked them up after I got them from the library and could not put floght done! Once again, the love plot is predictable but I will refrain from writing details in order to avoid spoilersbut it was sweet and enjoyable. Want to Read saving…. I like that Kara and Kaeldra are both able to forge meaningful relationships without having to providing entertaining heat for the readers, but at the same time, they don’t have straight-forward hunky-dory relationships either.

I really wanted to like this book more than I did. Woven around the story of the dragons is a court intrigue, with 3 siblings vying for power, and others attempting to establish their own little fiefdom within the overall power structure.
