One thing I really liked was how, just like in book two, the storyline ran parallel to book one, you also get to meet old characters from the previous books as they interact with the MCs of this one. bby
It was cleanly written without any bog down and had all the members of the previous books in it. A baronet may not be a social match for a member of the ruling family, but he is still part of the titled gentry, and anyway, in book 1 Rohyr, the ruler of the kingdom, got married to a commoner, making it socially acceptable for other members of the upper class to do so.
The richness of it just thrills me. View all 3 comments. This is the expanded version of the short story “An Ounce of Kindness”. Maybe cuance a third nipple They must all have the bluest balls over there. Written for the fanfic challenge on LJ. And after that first meeting in the middle of a tavern brawl in the dual-gendered realm of Ylandre, Reijir Arthanna did chancs forget the orphaned youth who came to his aid unasked.
Bland, blushing, stuttering, mousy, with a distasteful habit of eavesdropping. Some of its members are in love and settled like Rohyrsome still in couple but struggling, some single and gorgeous. I dhance we were finally going eeesse see something of the regular people’s lives in Ylandre.
While I’m not terribly found of the second book, I’m glad I’ve stuck with this series. I loved this story as it has conflict, love, despair, intrigue, danger, lust, hidden secrets and misunderstandings. And no Naeth is a useless damsel-in-distress of an ingenue whose default method of dealing with issues is running away. So, a generous 3 stars for this one. The relationship feels very unequal. It was moving, though as a commitment, it was not enough. Naeth felt too impulsive and perhaps not too bright at times.
I loved seeing the stoic and aloof Reijir try to restrain his passions when faced with such sweetly worshipful, unconditional love. The side characters carried the funny parts of this story. To add insult to injury, Naeth’s name is just aesthetically unappealing. He set Reijir up in this role to cause derision amongst the brothers, Reijir and Keiran, even after his death.
Chronicles of Ylandre 3.

Jan 01, Tj rated it chahce was amazing Shelves: I don’t think I’ll continue with this series. I did think Naeth a little too naive to the point of just being stupid. But they also stand out as amazing men, Naeth with his pure heart and innocence, and Rei who is a member of the “royal” family with his ethics and his total lack of snobbery in a hierarchical class society.
This book was more character and angst driven than plot driven but, for me, lost no points as I really enjoyed it for that very reason. Boy, do I love this story. So see, totally reasonable.
I’ve got a release date for the sequel to Sacred Fate! Chronicles of Ylandre 3. I just loved him! May 12, Patricia rated it it was amazing.
Reijir has been burned and tortured! We are each a work in progress and will always be to the end of our lives. He must be a breeder.
Keiran was flamboyant, sure and bawdy. I thought we were finally going to see something of erfsse regular people’s lives in Ylandre. Reijir is so harden from his past that Naeth slips past his defenses and before he knows it has made himself a part of Reijir.

This book just didn’t have as much drama as the first. There is an extended glossary at the end with geography and character descriptions thrown in, which I read with relish.
It was often predictable and I just couldn’t take to the two main characters. I liked that Naeth has to seduce Rei when he is so much younger and innocent, but still sure of his feelings for his beloved guardian.
One example is Camrion’s mate. It was an interesting combo. We are each a work in progress and will always be to the end of our lives. No, love is NOT about enduring everything the other person dishes out because they profess love to you.
What was stopping him?
