Erastes’ novel, Standish, is brilliant in the breadth, depth, and quantity of historical knowledge used to give it a textured reality, almost as if we can feel the world the characters live in.

Get to Know Us. I especially liked his last line of dialogue; both romantic and matter-of-fact. The author included details throughout that provided a strong verisimilitude and evoked the era without overburdening the story.
When we get to the second off when more characters start coming in, it gets a little but only marginally. I was going to be just The one thing I can say for this book is that it kept me reading it to the last page. Rafe’s suffering was not on par with Ambrose’s and it pissed me off so much that he tried to liken them. But I’m also an absolute sucker for Regency romances. That was one scary book and I loved it! This book is just awful in too many ways. Not to say that Erastes didn’t do a bang-up job of capturing the feeling and setting of the time.
