She went on and said, “Suppose you have another line coming in from the other side and you want to figure out where they are going to intersect.
East Dane Designer Men’s Fashion. You can imagine my surp Whatever your opinion of Feynman, you need to reconcile the fact that he’s got unbearably retrograde opinions: While there were a few nuggets of wisdom that I enjoyed and found interesting to think about, they were few and far between and I did not enjoy the technical discussions of mathematics, quantum physics, etc.

You can imagine my surprise when I discovered a tremendous thing, it seemed to me. I hate to admit it but I skimmed throught a great deal of this book.
I have two major objections. I must say, reading about Feynman from an admiring friend of his is really different from hearing his speeches from the man himself. In my case it was “what do you care what other people think”. One for the technophiles. During his lifetime and after his death, Feynman became one of the most publicly known scientists in the world. It is not odd at all. It’s mostly a collection of lectures or interview transcripts and it doesn’t read all that well good job none of the stuff in this book was particularl Really disappointed with this.

I listened to a conversation between two girls, and one was explaining that if you want to make a straight line, you see, you go over a certain number to the right for each row you go up, that is, if you go over each time the same amount you go up a row, you make a straight line.
Perhaps saddest of all was that this attitude crept in when Feynman describes the different ways he has learned to read stories to his male and female children. Adventures of a Curious Character. Those are actually two of my favorite books. He assisted in the development of the atomic bomb and was a member of the panel that investigated the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster.

This is a collection of transcription of speeches Feynman gave, and therefore contains a lot of repetitive material. I really enjoyed Feynman’s book “Surely you’re joking Mr. Overall, fenman volume appears to support a cult of personality of Feynman, rather than presenting useful information about his life or from his lectures.
Feynman shines when he talks about physics, his Lectures books are impressive, masterful, but there’s is very little of that in this book. I have read two others books by Feynman and loved them.
She figured out where the intersection was! Share your thoughts with other customers.

I would recommend reading them a few years apart when you forget what was in …more Some stories are different, but they also have a lot of common stories. This book was fichard let down due to repetitionsome overly technical sections etc. However, despite the anthologist’s desire to have Feynman’s speeches transcribed exactly, these selections could have benefited from a stricter and more heartless editor, and rearrangement in a more sensible order.
The Pleasure of Finding Things Out: I’d say this book is fine for people who are going to read it piecemeal but all desucbrir a row it isn’t that great.
Let me honest and admit here and now that in matters relating to science I am woefully ignorant. Why have they used “girls” as calculators just to do simple repetitive arithmetic and not the research? Feynjan speeches were often insightful, eloquent, and clearly made by an incredible scientist, but to read them end on end in book form is a little boring and redundant.
So then the “pleasure of finding things out” proved not to be a pleasure at all, but out of loyalty I battled on to the halfway mark, started to skim through the rest then zzzzzzzzzz. One is that Feynman is very dismissive and condescending to fields of study he viewed as unscientific, like the emerging field of Psychology.
