You could get a sense that he is a very good story-telling and has keen eyes cgroniques a good observer. It was also really interesting to learn about the work conducted by MSF generally.
I especially liked the wordless ‘tourism’ sequences of multiple small panels. Goodreads helps you keep track of books you want to read. To preserve your position as an observer is missing in the most of travelogues, memoirs etc.
Will surely check out his other travelogues. I’d recommend this to anyone who is a fan of the non-super hero graphic novel, and I’d encourage anyone who likes travelogues or finding out about different cultures to check it out.

Chrpniques isn’t here to spout anti-Burmese government birnanes, nor is he making a statement about colonialism, nor any other. Anyway, Delisle is not a political writer, nor a journalist, but he adds a heck of a lot to our understanding nonetheless.
I need to try other graphic novels by this author to see if it was just this one or it is in everything written by this author.

Burma Chronicleslike Delisle’s other graphic travelogues, features a simple drawing style and an acute attention to detail. Delisle accompanied his wife, who is an MSF managing doctor aka Doctors Without Borders and their two year-old son, Louis With a lot of information and visuals to absorb, it took me three weeks to actually get this book read thoroughly and I’m happy picking it up at least.
Normally I don’t like to read about different countries, cultures and people through the eyes of a Western author, and this book confirms my rule.
My favorite moment is when he successfully avoids getting soaked during the water festival cyroniques let’s an old women spill a bowl of water onto his back, anyway. This one is about his almost one year’s stay in Burma in during the dictatorship regime. Of course, this book immediately caught my eye while I was browsing the French section at Kinokuniya Bookstore. These people live in mini-estates with guards, and have their own clubs and compounds which are beautifully maintained.

Delisle presents himself as a tag-along, as his wife is doing work in Myanmar with MSF. His chroniqques of everyday Burmese life, from the morning jaunts by the monks seeking alms, to the frequent power outage, government censorship, government corruption and nepotism, expat life, developing local friends and Burmese culture.
Virtually no conversations with the Burmese. A friend mentioned to me how the book seems to be more a collection of little bits than an actual story — to the extent that a memoir would vhroniques a story in the first place.
But for me author tends to be little bit xenophobic when it comes to people who live in Burma. This is a very charming book, where Delisle manages to both lovingly describe a society that is alien to him hirmanes making himself the butt of the jokeswhile also showing several of the darker sides of the country and the situation it was in.
