The whole story is a flashback in which Derville explains to his friend the Vicomtesse de Grandlieu that Ernest, the young heir of the Restaud family, would be a valuable suitor for the Vicomtesse’s daughter Camille.
Indeed, even in transports gobscek joy, his conversation was confined to monosyllables; he wore the same non-committal countenance. Here, through a mouth of young lawyer we balzzc a story of a greedy loan shark is there any other type of this kind of people?
Wicked people have tried to separate me from your father to satisfy bazac greed. Episodic in nature, the story moves rapidly, touching not only balzaf Gobseck but on other characters of The Human Comedy. I can’t wait for the next Saturday and new adventures of Balzac’s heroes or better say antiheroes. I would sooner cut my hand off than flay people.
The one thing that always remains, the one sure instinct that nature has implanted in us, is the instinct of self-interest. A lamp, with a pedestal that had once been green, was burning in the room; but so far from taking color from its smoky light, his face seemed to stand out positively paler against the background.

Now to the facts. Perhaps, too, you would rather save your fortune, and keep it for one or two of your children?
An enthusiastic reader and independent thinker as a child, Balzac had trouble adapting himself to the teaching style of his grammar school. If you do not carry out my orders, I shall get up and go myself.
