With entries showcasing medicinal herbs including aloe vera, sage, chevallie nettle, and nearly remedy lists, you can learn how to treat a wide variety of common ailments from the comfort of your own home. Nearly filed this in the magic section of my hherbal but relented and included it in health because I’m sure cnevallier remedies do work on the law of averages and as yet undiscovered medical compounds.
There is a short section on remedies, but other books would be needed for more in-depth formulas. The easy-to-follow photographic guide shows how to make different types of remedies for home use, with expert guidance on self-treatment for herbak 60 common ailments. A fantastic reference book to keep on hand, but fiercely heavy so not one to tote around for identification. Too much information covered, not enough detail.
One of the best herbals I’ve seen, it is better than 40 of the 45 herbals I’ve read thus far. Great reference book on herbs to grow for medicine. Rooibos, Devil’s Claw, African Potato are African medicinal plants that have been medically proven and were left out.

The major herbal traditions of different cultures- Europe, India, China, Africa, Australia, and the Americas- are vividly described. Though the majority of entries do not include a picture, there is a description of the plant and it’s growing habitat. This little book works well as a quick reference to look up a particular plant or to look for a specific illness cold, menstrual cramps, headache etc.

Encyclopedia of Herbal Medicines. It’s authoritative, comprehensive, well laid out, lavishly illustrated, and clearly a labor of profound love on the part of the author and all those who worked on it.
That being said, there is some really nice cautionary information and the constituents sections is quite useful. The Encyclopedia of Herbal Medicine details the properties of each medicinal herb, with a strong focus on safety to ensure safe natural healing for the andrwe family. It is an excellent guide.
